Welcome Back Aidan

Aidan rejoins the team part-time whilst he carries out his PhD at the University of Bristol. Aidan will be continuing the work started during his first internship where he was exploring the effect of changing temperatures on Silicon and Silicon Nitride ring resonators, comparing different simulation software packages, which has now been published.

Now he will be focusing on gathering a range of data such as wafer uniformity of multiple ring resonators. He has also been working on modelling of these ring resonators with experimental data analysis and fitting analytical models in Python.

Aidan’s PhD is under the supervision of Dr Josh Silverstone at the Big Photon Lab and is part of the Quantum Engineering CDT at the University of Bristol. He focuses on generating, detecting and manipulating single photons in silicon photonics with the goal of making robust and scalable systems for use in computing, sensing and communications.

Aidan is keen to continue working with Zero Point Motion during his PhD, bridging the gap between academic research and commercialisation. By doing the internship alongside his PhD Aidan is performing cutting-edge research in an R&D lab at the forefront of science and technology, both in academia and industry.
