Welcome Alex!

Meet Alex, an intern at Zero Point Motion. During her internship, Alex will be using Matlab and Simulink to model a digital twin of our inertial sensors, and use PID/control theory to analyse the resulting data.

Currently, Alex is a 2nd year University of Bristol undergraduate student studying Maths and Physics. Alex was initially drawn to Zero Point Motion as it is a female-founded start-up, and with aspirations of starting her own company in the tech space one day, is very motivated to be here and learn what it’s like to work at a tech start-up.

The closest Alex has come to working with optically enhanced inertial sensors at this early stage of her career is a module on interference patterns and lasers, so it will be a steep learning curve but one she is ready for.

Alex’s internship has been funded by the University of Bristol’s SME Internship Scheme, which supports students and alumni to carry out internships at small- and medium-sized enterprises.

In her spare time Alex enjoys woodland and landscape photography which gets her out into the fresh air, and capture an image that allows others to see what she sees too.

Alongside photography, Alex has recently started windsurfing and is really enjoying the new challenge.

Talking about Zero Point Motion’s technology specifically, Alex said that “working for a company that is doing something completely ground-breaking and yet will impact our day-to-day lives is really exciting, especially where the technology is so clearly scalable.”
