MyWorld onboarding event

Following on from the success of being awarded the MyWorld grant, software engineer Tsz Hey Lam, presented Digibeat at the MyWorld’s  onboarding event at the Bristol Old Vic on 7th December, alongside collaborator Dr Zeyad Al-Shibaany, University of the West of England (UWE).

Digibeat will be an important proof of concept that a single inertial sensor can simultaneously perform two functions: high-precision fingertip motion tracking and heart rate measurement through ballistocardiography – detection of the forces pushing blood around the body. This combination will be invaluable in the VR sector, where it can offer insights into how a participant is interacting with content, and their level of immersion.

Speaking about the event, “It was very interesting to see what the other grant recipients were doing,” said Tsz “I can’t wait to see their results at the end of the year.”
