Invited talk at Photonex 2022

On 6th and 7th December, the SPIE Photonex conference took place at the NEC in Birmingham. Zero Point Motion’s CEO Lia Li and Product Manager Ning Zhang attended to find out the latest news in the UK photonics community. Lia also had an invited presentation on “Using photonic integrated circuits to improve micro-electro-mechanical systems inertial sensors”.

In her presentation, Lia described the latest developments in finite element simulation methods which were used to accurately and consistently simulate the cavity optomechanics of microring resonators. We also showed preliminary experimental data on our optomechanical measurement scheme. Accurately predicting mechanical and optical behaviour is very important for designing Zero Point Motion’s optically enhanced inertial measurement units.

Photonex is the premier event in the UK photonics calendar, bringing the whole supply chain together: supplier companies, consultants, industrial users, researchers, science groups, and innovative start-ups.

“There is some very interesting research and technology being developed by universities, start-ups, and big names in the industry,” said Ning about the conference “which will begin to demonstrate real-world benefits.”
