Chip Chat 2

On 16th December, Chip Chat 2 took place at QTIC, with guest speaker, Pete Hughes who presented his experiences on foundry relationships and the “operations engine”.

Pete’s background is in wafer fabrication through to analogue IC design and physical chip delivery at STMicroelectronics. He has worked as Director and VP at major UK startups Element14 and Icera, and 3 years as COO of Wave Optics Limited, an AR hardware tech startup based in Oxford.

Pizza, beer and soft drinks (kindly provided by QTIC) fuelled the continuing discussions centred around foundries and tape-out experiences.

Chip Chat is a community of academics & start-ups in Bristol who work on silicon photonics, ICs, MEMS & control architecture. The concept was inspired by a conversation between Lia (CEO of Zero Point Motion) and Caroline Clark (previously COO of KETS) who coined the phrase Chip Chat for enabling startups in the QTIC building to come together. After conversations with academics like Dr Josh Silverstone, Chip Chat was extended to the academic community as well. We have members from Siloton, Light Trace Photonics, Zero Point Motion, Qontrol and beyond!

If you would like to speak at future Chip Chats or be involved in the future Chip Chat events then please get in touch.

See you at Chip Chat 3, watch this space!
