Greetings! We’re Zero Point Motion, an emerging optical inertial sensor company creating high performance chipscale devices targeting positioning, navigation and platform stabilization.

Why inertial sensors?
Inertial sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes) are everywhere – in cars, phones, drones, aeroplanes, etc. Things that move. They are the basic sensors for movement and positioning.

How do they work?
Mass produced accelerometers and gyroscopes use a small silicon cantilever to sense acceleration and rotation, then measure the displacement of the cantilever using capacitance. They are made using MEMS technology in hundreds of millions per annum.

What’s special about Zero Point Motion’s sensors?
We keep the basic principles of silicon cantilever and MEMS manufacturing but use highly sensitive photonics techniques to measure the cantilever displacement. This is up to 10,000 times more accurate, resulting in radically improved sensor performance, and opening up new applications and markets. We are bringing aerospace grade performance to commercial markets.

Who are we?
Incorporated in the UK in 2020 by CEO Dr Ying Lia Li (Lia), who combined her industrial expertise at BAE Systems with her research at University College London to provide the core enabling technology https://lnkd.in/dFAqsqmr
